Without controls, a system is unpredictable. Identifying and implementing the right controls (preventive vs. detective) is the essence of governance.
We believe the best control is one that cannot be bypassed. preventive technical controls (like IAM policies that physically block an action) are superior to detective administrative controls (like a quarterly audit log review). Don't ask people to be careful; build systems that prevent them from being dangerous.
