Service Request

A request from a user or a user's authorized representative that initiates a service action which has been agreed as a normal part of service delivery. (e.g., "I need a new laptop" or "I need access to the shared folder"). Distinct from Incidents (something is broken).

Impact

Service Requests are pre-approved standard changes. They should be the bulk of IT work.

If a Service Request happens frequently, we Automate It. Manual provisioning should be avoided. Service Request Management is a candidate for Robotic Process Automation (RPA) or scripting.
