In software engineering, quality is the degree to which a system, component, or process meets specified requirements and customer/user needs and expectations. It is often decomposed into attributes such as functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability (ISO/IEC 25010).

Quality Assurance (QA) is a systematic process of ensuring that a product or service meets specified requirements and adheres to established standards. Unlike Quality Control (QC), which focuses on defect detection in the final product, QA is process-oriented and focuses on defect prevention throughout the development lifecycle.

An improvement that is expected to provide a return on investment in a short period of time with relatively low maturity and cost.
